Fieldnote Studio
Made by hand, shared by millions.
The challenge
Fieldnote made long, calm woodworking videos that loyal viewers loved. New viewers rarely found them, because the channel had no shorts and every thumbnail looked different.
The creator spent all week building and filming. Cutting short clips and designing thumbnails was always the job that got pushed to next week.
A woodworking creator with long YouTube videos, loyal viewers and no time to cut shorts.
Every long video becomes five short clips, each built around one satisfying moment, with thumbnails in one recognisable style.

The best moment in a woodworking video is usually ten seconds long: the first cut, the glue-up or the final reveal. That is the short.
The strategy
The long videos were the heart of the channel, but nobody was cutting them into shorts. We looked for the single most satisfying moment in each video, the first cut or the final reveal, and built every short around one of those moments.
A thumbnail system ties it together: the same framing, the same type and one bold word, so a viewer can spot a Fieldnote video in a crowded feed.
The reel
A vertical reel made for Fieldnote Studio, built to work on mute: the hook lands in the first second, captions carry the message and the end loops back to the start.
